United By Creativity: Where Readers Become Authors

The Writing Apprenticeship

Where readers become authors.

Your child writes and illustrates a real picture book, step by step. Then, with your permission, we publish it in the Global Library for kids around the world to read.

United By Creativity is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Everything here is free and open to every family: reading, writing, the picture maker, and publishing in the Global Library.
How it works

From first idea to published author

1

Plan

Your child plans a story with our guided picture book adventure.

2

Create

They write every page and make the pictures, drawing them or using our kid-safe picture maker.

3

You approve

You read the book together and give permission. Nothing is public until you do.

4

Published

We review it, confirm you're the parent, and add it to the Global Library. You get the eBook link, usually within about 2 weeks.

Our promise to families

Your child's work stays theirs

  • Always free. No fees, subscriptions, donations, or purchases are ever required.
  • No royalties to us. United By Creativity receives no royalties, commission, or profit from your child's book.
  • Your child keeps the copyright in their writing and drawings. You give only a limited permission that you can withdraw at any time.
  • Two separate permissions. One lets us privately review the book. A second, only for that exact book, lets us publish it.
  • Privacy first. We ask only for what we need, never sell information, never use it for ads, and never use your child's work to train AI.

Questions

Good to know

Does it cost anything?

No. United By Creativity is a nonprofit, and reading, writing, and publishing in the Global Library are free for every family.

Can we keep the book private?

Yes. Your child can create and keep a book without publishing it. Publishing happens only if you give permission for that specific book.

Who owns the book?

Your child keeps the copyright in their own writing and drawings. Pictures made with the AI picture maker may not be protected by copyright in the same way.

Can we remove a published book later?

Yes. Contact us and we'll remove it from the Global Library. We can't recover copies other people have already saved or shared.

Can we get a printed copy?

Printed copies are optional and never required. Ask us, and we'll explain the cost, which is only what printing and shipping cost.
