The Vision

A City Where Every Child Is an Author.

The City of Creativity is a free online world where children read, research, write and publish real books. Every place in the City helps a young writer find an idea and turn it into a story the world can read.

19 Places to Explore

A whole city built for young imaginations.

Children can bake a storybook cake, write a scene for the Theater, report the news at the City Press or stitch a square for a global quilt. Every child's path includes Idea Academy and the Global Library.

Our Vision

Closing the literacy gap, one young author at a time.

Too many children are falling behind in reading, and fewer are choosing to read for fun. We believe the way back is giving children a reason to read: a story of their own that other kids will read.

4 in 10U.S. fourth graders read below the basic level, the highest share since 2002.
Under 1 in 3fourth and eighth graders read at a proficient level.
42%of Missouri fourth graders read below the basic level.
27% → 14%Thirteen-year-olds who read for fun almost every day, 2012 to 2023.

Our Answer

Read it. Research it. Proclaim it. Publish it.

Students read and research topics that matter to them, write civic proclamations, and turn those ideas into original books in the City of Creativity. We believe children read and write more when they know their writing will be read.
